Noticing the Subtle ULPs

We posted this quote recently on our Facebook fan page:

Nothing feeds the center of being so much as creative work.“ (Anne Morrow Lindbergh)

Here’s the first response we got: “Oh so true...too bad the spouse didn't think so…” It would be so easy to chime in, ‘Yeah, you should see mine!” and off we go to victim land. We call this the Upper Limit Problem (hence the ULP acronym)—a moment of expansion into possibility, a slide into the familiar. When you really jump in and decide to create a life where you choose to expand your ability to give and receive love every day, you get lots of opportunities to notice the pull to victim, the easy slip into powerlessness, that shapes perception and choice for so many. Each time you or I catch the slide and make a shift, we literally expand our capacity to handle more positive energy. So drifting becomes an opportunity for learning.

So, the thought I had reading this short sigh of a clause was, “What a wealth of learning here!”  Here are some possible shift moves:

• Instead of my creativity being defined in any way by my partner, I OWN my creativity and it’s expression.

• I commit to noticing the thought patterns that limit my expanding experience of positive energy and replacing them immediately with an expression of appreciation.

• I notice that I’m subtly blaming my mate for my lack of creativity, and I commit to seeing him/her as my ally.

• I appreciate Anne Lindbergh’s commitment to her own creativity. I wonder how I can learn from her dedication?

What other learning opportunities do you see?  Would you be willing to use these learning moments as windows to expansion? Would you be willing to start today?
